Stereo System

Over the weekend i was in my basement and started thinking what i could do with all of the stereo equiptment that we had just sitting there, and also the stuff that is in the attic.  We had this set of Polk Audio speakers, with Cambridge Soundworks surround sound speakers.  When we bought these about 6 years ago it was a top-of-the-line system and knew it was a balls system.  This system is practically brand new also because when we moved around four years ago we did not bother to set it up and it had only been in our old house for about two years.  So last night when i finally decided to set it all up, i got all the speakers, a reciever, cd player, and some random wires i knew i would need.  I got the reciever from upstairs where we used it for the pool speakers.  Needless to say i did not get permission from my dad to take it, so once the pool gets opened up he will be pretty mad...but its worth it.  All of the good speakers were already down in the basement, and we had some other ones, that were a little older but still good so i grabbed those too.  I got all of the supplies down in the bvasement and set up the floor speakers with no problem, and also the surround ones.  Where i had a problem was with the center speaker, i believe it is broken because the front cover is broken off and i came to the conclusion that it was dropped during the move.  So i have all the speakers hooked up, and hid all the wires so that it looks clean and neat.  The system sounds awesome and works great.

Headphone Project

Well it all started with my broken head phones. I had some in ear buds with a broken connector, and some big DJ style SKullcandy headphones that had the left ear phone completely broken off and the wires were broken so only the left one worked. I knew me and Mike M. could make some magic happen in the DuxTech shop.

What we had to do for the buds with the broken connector was to cut off the connector, and then cut off a connector from a set of broken headphones from another class. We exposed the wires, lighly sanded off the insulation, and then satered the wires. we tested them out and they worked fine. Then we covered up the exposed wires with electrical tape. They may not look pretty but they work as good as new now.

Next up was our bigger project, the DJ headphones. We had two problems to solve with these, connecting the wires, and reattaching the left earpeice. We had to disassemble the middle section of the headphones to expose the wires. We routed the wires so they were outside instead of inside the middle section so that they'd be easier to work with and also give us more wire. Then we sanded and satered them together. We gave a little sound test and they worked good. At this point I had to leave and Farva took over the headphones. He used JB weld to connect the earpeice and then electrical tape to secure the wires. We let them dry for a class and now the finished product works great.
